Stellar Secrets - How It Started


Jakub and I wanted to join the GameOff 2024 game jam, so we assembled a team. Thanks to Discord, we posted a message and assembled our team just a few hours before it began.

What next? We needed to decide what to do. Choosing the engine was a quick decision. We chose Godot because we like the engine, want to learn more and improve our skills. Plus, we were recently inspired by the Godot Conf in Berlin.

Then we agreed to stay in 2D and use pixel art to keep it simple and doable in one month.

The theme was revealed! It’s secrets. After our first brainstorming session, we had many ideas, and our new game started taking shape!

Stellar Secrets: 2D platformer with sci-fi horror elements. You play as a journalist who takes a job on a space station to find out what happened to his sister, who worked there. But things go wrong on the way, and maybe some secret experiments have gone awry. It’s up to the player to uncover the truth!

Project Setup: We use GitHub for version control and Godot 4.3 for our project.
